Fishhook

Sarah Wallis
Sometimes your silence
is so sharp, like a fishhook drawn
down deep in your heart

where someone once tried
to drag the words out,
but gave it up as bad art.

I won’t do that,
you seem to need your silence
to say so much

but sometimes, I wonder, if you have
so much to say,
you just don’t know where to start...
Sarah Wallis is a poet and playwright based in Scotland, UK. In the last year work has appeared at places such as trampset, Lunate and Abridged and in Finished Creatures and The Madrigal in print. Recent work is at Coffin Bell, One Art and Ink Drinkers. A chapbook, Medusa Retold, a long form narrative poem told from Medusa’s point of view is available from @fly_press and she tweets @wordweave.
