About Ample Remains

We believe the things that live in your mind rent-free remain for a reason. The things you cling to. The things you push away. Even the things you can never speak of. We invite you to share the stories you've held back, releasing them for others to resonate with as well. We admire empathy and vulnerability but also moments of pure levity. We're curious how the thoughts that linger inform our shared humanity.

As a fledgling online publication, our shape is still a mystery, even to us. Join in our little experiment to pinpoint what makes a poem sublime, what makes prose reverberate in the mind, or what makes a story ward off sleep. We are on a journey to discover beautiful language and art that surprises us. So please, push genre boundaries, tinker with conventions, and explore new linguistic/narrative territories to your heart's content. Use traditional forms to tell us modern stories and invent new forms to tell us old stories. We want it all.

Marie Lie
founder + editor-in-chief
Sydney (she/her) is a twenty-three year old writer and publishing hopeful from Nashville, Tennessee. She frequents Target parking lots, independent coffee shops, used bookstores, and state parks; she also writes a suspicious amount of love stories for a self-proclaimed cynic. She officially works as a library associate but realistically spends the majority of her time rummaging through the stacks, avoiding patrons, and adding titles to her impossibly long (and ever-growing) reading list. An avid fan of Shirley Jackson and Toni Morrison, Sydney gravitates towards the psychological and introspective, strained relationships, complex manifestations of love, and hauntings.
