Submission Guidelines

Submissions are currently CLOSED.

We will reopen for submissions to our summer issue on May 15th, 2025.
Ample Remains is a new literary journal fixated on the things that remain and live within us. We want the work inspired from the thoughts that refuse to withdraw from the creases of your brain until you translate them into something legible. We want to sit with it, to let it die and be reborn through art. Give us what has lingered in your bones and in the broken bottles under your bed. Share the unnamed emotions that have persisted in your soul. Grab us with your voice, your thoughts, and never let us go. Force us to remain with you.

Do's and Dont's

━━━ ✓ ━━━

  • We accept poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and everything in-between.  We also enjoy reading pieces that push the boundaries of genres.
  • We treasure delicate, intentional language and aim to collect pieces that leave an after-image seared in our minds long after reading the final words.
  • Short pieces are preferable across the board, but not required. Generally, we aim for no more than 25+ lines of poetry or 2500 word prose pieces, although exceptions can be made.
  • We welcome all voices, but especially use our platform to elevate BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and otherwise  underrepresented voices. We appreciate works that speak from lived experiences.

━━━ ✗ ━━━

  • We do not accept pieces that have been previously published. While we appreciate credit as the initial publisher, all rights for accepted pieces revert back to authors upon publication.
  • Do not send us work that promotes or excuses any form of bigotry, including but not limited to racism, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, & ableism. We will not only ignore your submission, but also blacklist you from any future submissions.
  • We avoid graphic descriptions of violence, gore, bodily harm, or sexual assault. While we welcome pieces that examine trauma and difficult themes, we remain wary of pieces that rely on body horror and shock value. We aim to protect our readers from stories that may force them into reliving trauma.

Email submissions to [email protected]
with subject: Genre / Name / Title

Sending your submission...
  • Email submissions to [email protected] with the subjec and document titled as "Genre / Name / Title." Please attach your submission as either a .docx or .pdf file. Please refrain from sharing Google Docs with us.
  • In the body of your email, please tell us the genre of your submission, its title, any necessary content/trigger warnings, and provide a brief contributor's bio (under 100 words). Feel free to include your social media handles if you'd like to be credited in our spotlight posts.
  • We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please notify us if your piece is accepted elsewhere. While we will not be able to publish that particular piece, we will celebrate your success and look forward to future submissions!

 After submitting...
  • Expect up to fourteen days for a response; after that grace period, it's alright to follow up about the status of your submission.
  • If your piece is not accepted, please know that we would still love to read more of your work in the future and strongly encourage you to submit again for the following issue. If your piece is accepted, you're more than welcome to submit again the following submission cycle as well.
  • At this time, we cannot pay contributors for their words, although it remains at the top of our long-term goals. We are able to nominate select pieces for The Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net.
